Joining Bungie as Executive Producer

Recently I made the decision to move on from BioWare in order to join Bungie as Executive Producer and of a new project. Since I can’t give specifics of what I’ll be working on, I’ll simply say that I’m excited to join Bungie’s group incredibly talented developers. This is a group who have a long history of creating some of the biggest franchises in the video game industry so I couldn’t be more humbled by joining their ranks.

With my move to Bungie I’m certain the next few years will be exciting. Bungie are masters of fun, addictive gameplay, which I and millions of others around the world have enjoyed together. It’s this combination of bringing players together with amazing gameplay that drew me to Bungie and I can’t wait to share more with you as time goes on.

In my brief time with Bungie I’ve had a chance to look behind the curtain, what I’ve found is a group of developers who are friendly, candid, humble and incredibly ambitious. Ambition in this industry is such a critical factor, it’s what gets us up in the morning, what drives a team to create a player experience no one has seen before and deliver it in a way players can engage with to their hearts content.

So if you share mine and Bungie’s passion for creating games which leave a mark on the industry come and join us!

Leaving BioWare

It’s been a privilege helping to lead BioWare’s New IP but I’m moving on from BioWare.

From my very first day of making games I’d always wanted to work with the studio that created some of my favorite games; Knights of the Old Republic, Baldur’s Gate, Mass Effect, Dragon Age and Jade Empire. About 5 years ago I had the opportunity to do just that and helped bring Dragon Age Inquisition to the world.

Since Inquisition shipped I’ve been the Lead Producer of BioWare’s first new IP since the Mass Effect trilogy and it’s been an amazing experience to work with the other leaders and the entire team. The new IP continues on with its development, shepherded by a leadership group with a vision that I think will change the way people experience BioWare games. Everyone working on the New IP is amazingly talented and their work continues to exceed even the lofty expectations at BioWare.

Saying goodbye to BioWare and the people who I’ve worked with for years was difficult. BioWare is a studio which prides itself on quality, humility and creativity, a culture which has helped me grow as a leader and developer. I wish every developer on the New IP team the very best and give my heartfelt thanks to everyone in the studio.

Big thanks to all the incredible BioWare are the fans that made my days and nights so enjoyable. I always loved meeting you all at cons, chatting on twitter and watching your videos and streams. You bring laughter and smiles into a job which can sometimes be tough. Hopefully you’ll like the next game I do just as much.

This is a pretty hard thing to do, but it’s the right thing at this stage of my life. My wife and I are expecting our first child and we’d like to do that in a bigger city.

While I can’t discuss what I’ll be working on next, it’s fair to say that creating massive, AAA games is still what gets me excited to go into the studio every day so stay tuned for more on that in the next month or so.

Happy Halloween!
